RBTE 2017: SignStix, Selectronic and Toshiba GCS Join Forces to Showcase Latest Retail Innovations

SignStix has returned from another successful year exhibiting at the Retail Business Technology Expo. London’s Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE) is Europe’s must-attend event for retail and hospitality, offering strategic and tactical advice to organisations, covering topics and solutions such as eCommerce, digital signage, customer engagement, loyalty, mobile apps, analytics and much more. The event is held adjacent to the Retail Design Expo, drawing in thousands of leading retail brands from all over Europe.

For three years running, SignStix has exhibited at the event, held at the Olympia, London. RBTE has grown to become one of the most hotly anticipated industry expos of the year and is a must-attend event for retail and hospitality organisations who are on the hunt for the freshest, most innovative, digital solutions.

2017’s sold-out show was expected to draw in an impressive 17,000 visitors over two days and featured the biggest floorplan to date.

Forming part of Toshiba Retail’s stand, SignStix® and hardware partner Selectronic joined Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions on stand #577, demonstrating to visiting retailers how various technologies can be easily integrated to improve the customer shopping journey in-store.

The technology on offer

Covering the entire journey from entering the store, right through to product selection and point-of-sale (POS), the dynamic displays featured on the stand were built and managed centrally using the SignStix platform.

Working closely with our multi-skilled network of partners, the SignStix team highlighted how integrations across various touchpoints and technologies in the retail sector (ranging from digital kiosks, interactive signage and video walls to commercial screens, printers and specialist hardware) can work in synergy to create highly personalised, engaging experiences for customers.

As part of its official launch, EDGE made its grand debut at this year’s RBTE. The latest in SignStixs digital offerings, EDGE is a brand new digital shelf-edge proposition, fusing together Selectronic’s slick hardware with the SignStix platform to create one, complete solution that is ideal for retail environments.

Exclusively for RBTE, EDGE was also integrated with Toshiba’s storeMate application, allowing for the demonstration of how dynamic, centrally-managed pricing can be easily integrated with eye-catching digital labels.

The display showcased how EDGE gives retailers the power to directly influence in-store purchases through the seamless mix of loyalty card incentives, online reviews, dynamic pricing and special offers.

Interactive Product Selector

As part of the line-up, SignStix also powered a touch-enabled, interactive product display, highlighting a selection of Toshiba’s POS hardware. The product guide, which was built entirely using SignStix’s tool for content creation, Creator, was also fully integrated with digital shelf edge and lighting control. Once a visitor selected a product on a tablet, the corresponding shelf would light up, identifying that product as the one selected. Designed to provide a comprehensive and personalised shopping journey, the interactive display showcases how retailers can fuse together the online and offline shopping channels with more ease than ever before.

SignStix Commander

This year, SignStix also placed the digital design of the stand straight into the hands of RBTE visitors.

The SignStix Commander smartphone and tablet application has been designed to place the power of SignStix into the hands of people on the ground, such as store managers – and using this, visitors were encouraged to ‘take control’ of the stand and choose their favourite digital signage campaign to deploy to the screens.

Visitors were able to initiate live content takeovers by choosing from pre-loaded promotional campaigns for Beauty, Fashion, Food, and Home/DIY. The ease and flexibility with which visitors were able to re-dress the stand demonstrated how retailers and their employees can quickly react to in-store events as they happen in real-time.
